Welcome to the First Edition of the Cancun Discounts Newsletter!
Most of you have probably wondered why you haven't seen a newsletter until this point.  "What kind of scam did I sign up for?" you might be wondering.  Well, here's the story...Cancun Discounts is a brand new site.  It's been up for only 2 months.  We had to get the site going enough to have something to say and someone to say it to!

Since this is the first newsletter in the long and storied history of Cancun Discounts, let's start with some introductions.  Our names are Johann and Sandra.  We'll be taking turns writing the newsletter, so you'll get to know both of us.  Today, this is Johann writing.  That's pronounced "Yo-haun" for those Americans among us (you know, like Sebastian Bach).  Yes, childhood was brutal, especially the first day of school and when we'd have substitute teachers.  I hope those of you out there with unusual names can empathize!

We've been married for 10 years this year (wow), no kids yet (too much of the world still to see).  We hail from the big town of Vancouver, Washington, right across the river from Portland, Oregon.  We've been around the net since 1997, at http://www.johann-sandra.com, where we've been host to over 2 million visitors since August of 2001.  We host message boards there, and post all types of information about our travels and other endeavors.

Sandra was born in India and was raised in Sweden until she was 17, when she came to the United States on an Exchange Program.  That's where we first met.  A year or so later, we were married and Sandra moved to the United States permanently (or temporarily if you ask her...).  We've been traveling together ever since, and one of our favorite places is Cancun, Mexico.  We've talked to so many people since we were first there on the Millennium (what a party that was!), asking us for advice and information about Cancun.  They've asked us to expand the Cancun portion of our site so many times, that we finally decided to go all out and make a new one! 

We thought about what would really help people like us who like to travel and want to visit Cancun, and this is what we came up with - a site dedicated to helping you find the best discounts out there.  In addition, we wanted to help eliminate all those countless hours you spend surfing the web trying to find what tours and activities are out there, and for how much, trying to find the best fares on airlines, hotels, and rental cars, etc.  We always use the internet to make all our reservations, and this is such a pain!  Why can't there just be one site you can go to and everything you need is right there?  Well, that's our goal. 

Each issue, we'll be bringing you new featured discounts, as well as updates on the site, happenings on the message board, and the latest events and news in Cancun.   As we become aware of new coupons and discounts, tours, or deals, we'll pass them on to you. 

The most important thing is that in order for this site to be successful, we need you!  We need you to bring discounts and deals you know about to our attention.  We need you to let us know what you like and don't like about our site and the newsletter.  We need you to Register and participate in our Cancun Forum so it can develop into something great.  We need you, and so do the future travelers to Cancun.  As the first group of recipients of this newsletter, you are the experts, you are the old-school, you are the people future visitors will look to for expertise and advice.  When you return from Cancun, be sure to stay involved and participate in the forum discussions.  Those people who are looking for a home need you.
