RIO LAGARTOS FLAMINGO PRESERVE

We'll start at Rio Lagartos, where we'll take a 2-hour boat ride through the mangrove-lined waterways, spotting dozens of varieties of birds and other wildlife.  This is a photographic safari like few others in the world, as we can see crocodiles, cranes, grey and white pelicans, ibises and of course the dazzling pink flamingos.

We'll stop to see the salt mines; approximately 12 miles of pink lakes, where we can dive in and take a swim.  After cooling off in the purifying waters, we'll enjoy a delicious Mayan lunch, including a choice of such entrees as shrimp crepes, fish fillet, grilled beef, omelets and grilled shrimp, served in a local fisherman's hut perched on the edge of the waterway where the boats gently sway in the breeze.

The next stop on your Yucatan adventure is Ek Balam, where we'll take approximately 45 minutes to tour the Mayan Ruins site, including the acropolis and it's amazing carvings and walls.  The last stop on the tour is the Mayan Village of Hunuku, where we'll have a chance to see and get to know the Mayan traditions, and see how the local people live today.
