XEL HA PARK TOURSAdd this page to your Favorites!
Xel-Ha is the world's most spectacular natural aquarium, a nature lover's paradise. Embark on an aquatic adventure - explore creeks, lagoons, natural wells and ancient caves fed by subterranean rivers flowing to Mexico's beautiful Caribbean Sea. The Xel-Ha River Float is something you won’t want to miss.
Fed by a labyrinth of tiny, underground fresh-water springs, the River flows gently to the sea, home for a myriad of colorful fish and a living reef. Multimedia: ATTRACTIONSThe biggest attraction at Xel-Ha is the Swim With Dolphins activity. You can interact with the dolphins including being foot-pushed, and have them do tricks in front of and over you. The dolphin swim takes place in the lagoon. The other major thing to see and do here is the lagoon itself. Xel-Ha is one of the best locations in Cancun for snorkeling. There is also cliff diving, a rope swing, and a great beach to relax on. Across the street from the park are some small ruins. INCLUDED WITH ADMISSIONThe following items

If you really want to see and experience Xel-Ha in all it's magnificent glory, you should opt for the Xel-Ha All-Inclusive tour. The Xel-Ha Tulum Combo does leave you wishing you had more time there, though it is a good way to get to see the Tulum ruins, especially if you have kids who will get too bored if they have to look at ruins all day long. A private tour will help you maximize your time at the park.
If you want to do the dolphin swim, make sure you reserve online well in advance. There are only about 50 slots a day for the thousands of daily visitors to this park. If you don't reserve in advance, you will likely not get to swim with the dolphins at Xel-Ha. If you do the swim, there will be videos and photos for you to purchase afterward if you like (we recommend this - a great memory).
If you are wondering whether to see Xel-Ha or Xcaret, we'd recommend that first-time visitors who are more active, like to see a variety of things, and have kids choose Xcaret. If you are more into snorkeling and relaxing, then Xel-Ha is great. The dolphin swims are the same at both parks. Keep in mind that snorkeling is usually better in the morning before all the silt gets kicked up, and that you will need to bring biodegradable sun block or purchase it at Xel-Ha.
Xel-Ha is located 76 miles (122km) south of Cancun, just 8 miles (13km) from the Mayan Ruins of Tulum on the east side of the Carraterra Chetumal. The close proximity makes this an easy combonation to visit in a single day. The vast majority of visitors to Xel-Ha go with a tour like those suggested above. This is by far the easiest and most convenient way to get there - it even includes hotel pickup and drop-off.
For the independent traveler, you can also rent a car, take a taxi, or catch a collectivo from Cancun. The Collectivo will let you off the highway by the Xel-Ha sign. Taking a taxi from Playa Del Carmen will set you back about $30 each way, from Cancun will cost more like $75 each way. The collectivo will cost just a few dollars but of course is by far the least convenient method of transport.
IMPORTANT: Save valuable time by Booking Your Park Entrance Online.
9:00AM to 5:30PM - 7 Days a Week
IMPORTANT: Xel Ha will not allow you to bring your regular sunblock into the park, as part of the ongoing effort to protect the environment. It will be confiscated at the gate unless it is biodegradable. See Biodegradable Sunscreen.
