Visit Ek Balam Mayan Ruins site, this is the latest site that is being restored, located near Cozumel, the restoration process started back in 1997. You will see an amazing site, but remember the already restored area is small if compared to Chichen Itza. This site allows you to climb the tallest temple of the site, called Acropolis, once you reach the highest point at 100 feet, you'll be able to appreciate magnificent panoramic views of Yucatan and also you will see the rest of the site. One good thing about this site is that you'll enjoy a site that is never crowded with tourists, this will give you a better and more relaxed experience as you visit the ruins. Q: IS EK BALAM LOCATED IN COZUMEL?
A: Ek Balam is not located in Cozumel, it will actually require you to ride the ferry to Playa del Carmen, from there It will take about a 3 hours to get there.

Q: CAN I DO THESE TOURS IF I'M ON A CRUISE SHIP?
A: Unfortunately no, We suggest visiting Tulum or Coba instead if you're on a cruise ship. As Ek Balam is too far away to do from a cruise ship in Cozumel.

Q: ARE THERE ANY PRIVATE TOURS TO TOUR EK BALAM?
A: We don't have it pre-packaged private tours on our website, but if you can contact us and we'll be glad to help you organize your tour to Ek Balam.

Q: WHAT DO EK BALAM HAS TO OFFER?
A: You can climb the biggest pyramid of the ruins site, called Acropolis, from the top of the Acropolis, you will be able to see the ruins of Chichen Itza and Coba. Here you will be able to explore and see some 45 structures, including two very large unexcavated buildings. Ek Balam also features the Tomb of Ukit Kan Le'k Tok', The Oval Palace, The Mayan Ball Court, The Twin Pyramids, and a beautiful entrance arch.
