SIGHTSEEING EXCURSIONS FROM THE MAYAN RIVIERA

Riviera Maya Excursions

Although the Riviera Maya is incredibly beautiful, it's still fun to take an excursion to another location to see what it's like.  In the Riviera Maya, there are lots of fun places to see, but there are some great places outside the Riviera Maya too, such as Cancun or the islands of Cozumel, Isla Contoy and Isla Mujeres.  Each of these locations offers you a very different and exciting experience.

About our Riviera Maya Excursion Locations

Cozumel is Mexico's largest island, located about a 45 minute ferry ride from Playa del Carmen.  It is famed for it's snorkeling and scuba diving, and is the world's busiest port for luxury cruises.  It is anchored by it's only town, San Miguel, which is a small and cozy town with a town square.

Isla Contoy is further away than Isla Mujeres, and can only be reached by high-speed motorboat from Cancun.  It is deserted, a jewel of the Caribbean, and also a protected nature preserve - a bird lovers paradise.

Isla Mujeres is a tiny island just off the coast of Cancun.  It is reached only by high-speed ferry or one of many boat tours that depart from Cancun.  No cars are allowed on the island, so you'll get around either by bicycle, on foot or by golf cart.  It's small enough to explore in a day.  You can't reach it from the Riviera Maya by boat, so you'll need to take ground transportation to Cancun, and board the boats from Cancun.

Cancun is one of the most famous tourist destinations in the entire world, and certainly in Mexico.  Home to over 150 dazzling luxury hotels, white sand beaches, and wild nightlife, it is the Las Vegas of the Caribbean, without the casinos of course.

Playa del Carmen is known for its cosmopolitan 5th Avenue walking street and cozy small town vibe.  This once tiny fishing village is now a tourist mecca in its own right!  We offer sightseeing tours of Playa del Carmen, also experiences like dinner and shopping in the cute little town.

Valladolid is a Mayan town from colonial times that features a historical town square, a convent and some interesting photo opportunities.  Combine the town with a visit to Chichen Itza, the most impressive ruins site near the Riviera Maya.

The Sian Ka'an Biosphere is a massive UNESCO heritage site, featuring all kinds of wildlife and ecological opportunities.  Once inside Sian Ka'an, you tour by boat through mangroves, watch for birds and wildlife, spot for dolphins and manatees and snorkel on pristine coral reefs. Located an hour south of Tulum.

Off-Road Adventure lets you drive your own Jeep to see the sights of the Riviera Maya, both manmade and natural.  The tour takes you to all kinds of different adventures in the Riviera Maya such as zip lining, white sand beaches.
