As any seasoned traveler to Cancun knows, Sea Lice and Jellyfish are a way of life.  There are certain times of the year when jellyfish eggs (called Sea Lice) fill the oceans, waiting to sting the unprotected and unaware.  Luckily, we found out about a truly great product called Safe Sea, which protects you against the stings of Sea Lice, Jellyfish, Stingrays, Coral, and any other of the 13,000 stinging organisms that are out there lurking in the beautiful blue water of the Caribbean.

If you plan on snorkeling, scuba diving, surfing, swimming, or otherwise enjoying the fantastic array of water activities in Cancun, we highly recommend picking up a bottle or two of Safe Sea.  You can read around the internet about it, it is a very popular product.  When we were in Miami Beach, Sandra got tangled up in a Portuguese Man O War Tentacle - Ouch!  It stung for days.  That was before we found out about Safe Sea protective lotion, which effectively neutralizes jellyfish and Sea Lice stings.

Statistics say that between March and September, swimmers in the Caribbean have a 1 in 4 chance of being stung by Sea Lice.  Add onto that the numerous jellyfish, and the ever-present Fire Coral, and you stand a pretty good chance of being stung.  After all, 13,000 types of stinging organisms is a lot, don't you think?  Every year over 200 million people are stung by marine organisms.  It's better to be safe than sorry!

You can get several varieties of Safe Sea - you can get it with sun block built in which is our personal choice - no sense wearing two.  You can also get the diver version without sunscreen, or a variety just for your kids.  Safe Sea with SPF 30 is our recommendation for the average beachgoer.
