The Sian Kaan Biosphere is the most important wildlife reservation in Mexico. Home to such creatures as the endangered manatee and over 350 species of birds, Sian Kaan was declared a UNESCO heritage site in 1986 - a truly fascinating natural area. This tour is a true ecotour, indulging in the varied wildlife of the area, and giving you an opportunity to view rare birds and other wildlife, swim in natural pools, snorkel on virgin coral reefs, and boat through virgin wilderness in one of the world's most unique natural treasures. |

After a thorough and interesting orientation at the park's visitors center, we'll make our way to Punta Allen, where we'll have a snack before boarding the small boat that we'll take to explore the wilderness of Sian Kaan. We'll make our way through narrow waterways, lined with mangroves, where birds and other wildlife make their home. We'll spot for and identify waterfowl and other species while the naturalist guide shares with us the wonders of the ecosystem.
We'll stop at a natural pool, where we can swim in it's crystalline waters, admiring it's spectacular beauty. Then we make our way to Cayo Culebras, where we may see dolphins, manatees, pelicans, sea turtles, ibis, hawks and other wildlife before snorkeling on one of the most beautiful coral reefs in the Riviera Maya. After snorkeling, we'll eat a hot cooked lunch at the restaurant and relax on the beach before heading for home.
