TOURS OF COBA FROM THE MAYAN RIVIERA

Tours to Mayan Ruins in Coba

These tours will take you to see the once-mighty Mayan city of Coba.  Dating back to the 7th century, Coba was once one of the largest cities in the Mayan empire.  Today, it is one of the most famous Mayan ruins sites in the Riviera Maya.  The only Mayan site in Mexico to be set in the jungle, this gives Coba a totally different feeling than any other ruins site.  Browse our tours to Coba below.

At Coba, you'll walk, bicycle or ride in a pedicab (rickshaw) through the Mayan jungle, where your expert archaeological guide will give you fascinating insight into this awesome ruins site.  This site is recommended most of any of the Mayan sites for people with limited mobility, as you can hire a pedicab at the entrance and have your guide pedal you around the site on your tour.

There are still over 5,000 mounds at Coba that have yet to be uncovered - once these are finished restoring, Coba could be an archaeological colossus in the Riviera Maya, even more so than Chichen Itza.  From the top of Nohoch Mul, the great pyramid, the views over the jungle are spectacular, stretching across nearly the entire Yucatan Peninsula.

Coba is conveniently situated near several Mayan villages, some of which you'll get to visit on some of these tours.  You can interact with real Mayans and discover their way of life.  It is also set near many cenotes, which can also be visited on some of the above tours.
