Dating back to 200 B.C., the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins were one of the major Mayan settlements in the Costa Maya area of Mexico.  For a very many years, the ruins of Chacchoben were known only to the local Mayan farmers, who named the site Chacchoben, which means "red corn".  Today, the ruins are the # 1 attraction in Costa Maya.
