Playa del Carmen is one of the world's best places for
sightings of sea turtles, as they breed and feed in the sheltered coves
along the Riviera Maya. In addition, you will often see moray
eels, stingrays, nurse sharks, reef sharks, octopus, lobsters, and huge
pelagic fish like marlin, sailfish, or giant grouper.
The proximity and depth of the barrier reef makes it
an ideal spot for diving, and all around the Playa del Carmen area
you'll find cenotes, fabulous caverns with amazing limestone formations,
unlimited visibility, and a unique ecosystem. You
can get certified to scuba dive, or do a resort course, then relax on
the beach in the afternoon and shop or
cruise the town in the afternoon and evening. We offer the best
prices in Playa del Carmen on scuba diving, and it's all located
conveniently near downtown.
